Athena started because I was frustrated.

I wanted to get my fertility tested in The Netherlands, not because I was trying to get pregnant right away, but because I wanted to feel more prepared when thinking about my future. I have always wanted kids a little later, but I was also aware that biology has its own timeline. If there was something I should be aware of, I wanted to know now before my options were limited.

And honestly, it was way harder than it should’ve been. I ran into “come back when you’re trying”, “you’re still very young, so I’m sure you’re fine” and a general feeling that I was asking for too much.

It felt like there was no space for women who were just… curious. Who wanted information without having to prove they were desperate for it.

So, I started looking into how to make it easier. And when I couldn’t find anything that felt right, I decided to fix something that didn’t make sense.
